Hedné is all of the above – and more. He is the Norwegian champion of stage magic, artistic director of the award-winning women’s choir Multa Paucis, and holds master’s degrees in both psychology and music. On stage, he brings it all together into something rare: experiences that are equal parts entertainment, insight and art.
Mikael R. Hedné is a mentalist, psychologist, corporate host, speaker and conductor. The combination is unusual, and it is not accidental: the shows are built on the same field he has published research in, and the music is a master’s degree of its own, not a hobby.
He became Norwegian champion of stage magic in 2017. He has performed for Penn & Teller on Fool Us in Las Vegas and appeared on Norway’s Got Talent, and the shows have taken him to three continents — from San Diego to Stockholm and Shanghai. More than half of his shows and engagements are performed in English.
Behind the shows is a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Bergen. His research on intuition and insight is published in Frontiers in Psychology, with Elisabeth Norman at the University of Bergen and Janet Metcalfe at Columbia University. He has lectured at Columbia, MIT and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, among others.
The music is the other half. Hedné holds a master’s degree in Norwegian folk singing and conducting from the Norwegian Academy of Music, and is artistic director and conductor of the women’s choir Multa Paucis.
Clients include Equinor, EY, DNB and Bank of India. A stage show of mind reading and psychological illusions is one way to use him; a host who keeps the programme moving is another. For conferences and company seminars he gives talks and workshops on intuition and decision making. And for smaller groups there is the show that takes place around a single table, with every guest gathered in one place.
